Chercheur Climat, Société Et Aide À La Décision H/F
18-month fixed-term contract (CDD) researcher position (Category A) based in Toulouse, France, at the CECI joint research unit (CNRS, CERFACS, IRD), with possible remote work of 1 to 3 days per week. Expected start date: 1 January 2027.
Under the scientific lead of the SAFESEA project, the researcher will inform stakeholders about the current state of knowledge, use a narrative 'storylines' approach to co-develop climate information, and set up a stakeholder engagement protocol for the whole duration of the project.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and mobilise a broad range of stakeholders at regional, European and global levels to help steer the project strategically and support public decision-makers.
- Run participatory processes to identify stakeholder needs, understand their perception of risks linked to ocean warming, acidification and deoxygenation, and co-define priorities at different spatial and governance scales.
- Co-develop decision-support tools that place scientific knowledge on these climate stressors within the socio-ecological frameworks of the project's case studies.
- Design and implement an integrated, inclusive and accessible communication strategy on ocean warming, acidification and deoxygenation.
- Promote ownership and sustainability of project results through targeted dissemination and dialogue with policy actors at national, regional and international levels.
- Strengthen long-term local capacity through co-built training and education activities.
- Monitor and evaluate project activities against key performance indicators (KPIs).
Profile:
- PhD (level 8 doctorate).
- Strong background in marine biogeochemistry and/or social sciences.
- Experience designing, implementing and analysing social science surveys.
- Command of scientific programming languages and common statistical methods.
- Excellent scientific English (C1-C2), written and spoken.
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary, international team; strong communication skills, autonomy, initiative and rigour.
The team collaborates with consortium partners including CEAZA and Universidad Santo Tomás (Chile), UNESCO's Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and the Ocean Acidification International Coordination Centre, offering international mobility and workshop opportunities.
