Arabic Language Teachers

UNESCO is seeking part-time language teachers for its language teaching programme. The teachers work under the supervision of the Learning & Development team, Learning, Performance and Development Unit, within the Bureau of Human Resources Management. The language teaching programme improves the language abilities of staff and other participants and promotes linguistic balance and multilingualism within UNESCO through its offer of language courses.

UNESCO is currently seeking teachers for an in-person beginners' course of three hours per week from October to December 2026.

ASSIGNMENTS:
- Teaching Arabic beginners courses in-person. Language courses should cover production and receptive language skills.
- Preparing course descriptions, programmes, classes and learning materials in accordance with the level and objectives of the group.
- Correcting assignments/homework as applicable and providing individualized feedback and advice on participants' progress.
- Carrying out administrative duties directly related to language teaching, such as maintaining students' attendance and communicating with students as needed.

UNESCO is seeking to replenish the pool of part-time teachers. Inclusion in the pool is not a guarantee of work. For pooled teachers who are invited to teach language classes, the contractual arrangements will be agreed individually depending on specific needs at the time. Part time language teachers will undertake their assignments at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Training and qualifications in second or foreign language teaching is highly desirable. A qualification from a higher education institute in language area studies, language teaching, applied linguistics, communication or education/pedagogy or related area is preferred. Qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of formal qualifications.

Work Experience: Experience in teaching Arabic to adult learners in a professional context is preferred.

Contract Type: Consultant Contract, Level 1 - Junior, 3 months duration, on-site.
