Postdoctoral Researcher in International Relations and Political Science (F/M/D)
The Geneva Graduate Institute is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the SNSF-funded project "Knowledge Production, Networks, and Power in Global Education Governance: The Politics of Expertise in UNESCO, OECD, and the World Bank", based at NORRAG, the Global Education Centre of the Institute. NORRAG is a leading hub dedicated to advancing quality, equity, and justice in education and training worldwide, generating and amplifying critical knowledge, particularly from the Global South.
The project examines how international organizations produce and mobilize expert knowledge in global education governance. Using a mixed-methods design that combines social network analysis and "network-cued" interviews, it investigates who produces global education policy knowledge, how networks of expertise are structured, and how organizational practices shape the production and circulation of knowledge. The postdoctoral researcher will join a collaborative research team led by Professor Chanwoong Baek.
Contract: maximum duration contract (until August 2030), 80% activity rate. Starting date: February 2027 (to be agreed).
Key responsibilities: contribute to the project's research activities, including data collection, analysis and fieldwork, and assist with project-related administrative tasks.
Required qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in political science, international relations, comparative and international education, education policy, or a related social science discipline.
- Strong background in the politics of expertise, global governance, and international organizations.
- Training and experience in social network analysis.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an international research team.
What we offer: salary and benefits in line with the SNSF range for postdoctoral researchers; a diverse, collaborative academic community; mentoring and supervision within the research team; opportunities to participate in international and European conferences and workshops; opportunities for international research travel.
