Technical Remote Participation Moderator Roster

Vacancy notice no. 1425. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations agency for information and communication technologies. This is a Generic Vacancy Notice: selected candidates will be added to a roster of technical remote participation moderators (Special Service Agreement, daily-basis contract, Geneva duty station, open to external candidates).

Under the guidance of the e-Meeting Coordinator, the moderator will:
- Before events: meet the Meeting Organizer/Conference Secretary for briefing; prepare the virtual meeting room; set up equipment (laptop, camera) in the ITU meeting room where onsite presence is required; become familiar with each session topic and liaise with Chairs/Panelists about remote participation; check that sessions display correctly on the ITU events page and Room Management dashboards; upload documents, presentations and speaker bios to the e-meeting room; coordinate participant access with the meeting organizer.
- During events: open the virtual room, start and test the audio conference and recording; welcome and orient remote participants; ensure presented documents are displayed in the virtual room; relay interventions to the Chair; test audio quality for interpretation; unmute/mute participants for interventions; provide first-level troubleshooting and escalate to ITU technical teams; stop the recording and close the conference.
- Deliverables: ensure smooth remote participation, debrief with the e-Meeting Coordinator and return any hardware after the event.

Requirements: complete secondary education with a diploma or equivalent technical/commercial studies (a university degree is an advantage and may replace 2 years of experience); at least 2 years of relevant experience; advanced English (knowledge of another ITU official language - Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish - is an advantage); good communication and diplomatic skills; ability to work under pressure; working knowledge of MS Office, Adobe, Mac OS and Windows; experience with Zoom, Teams and web-conferencing platforms.

Remuneration: paid according to days or hours effectively worked; daily salary for Geneva approximately CHF 201 (may vary). Travel costs and daily subsistence allowance are covered if travel is required.
